ALL SUMMER LONG!


D'Hercy Dance Co. is pleased to offer an exciting fun filled five day Fine Arts Integrational Camps for children aged 4 - 16 years. Children will be divided into 3 age groups and be schooled for 50 minutes once each day in dance, drama, and visual arts, with 10 minute breaks, for the three hour camps; for six hour camps this will happen twice each day. The age groupings will be determined by the concentration of registrants, but generally will be grouped as 4 - 6 year olds, 7 - 10 year olds and 11 - 16 year olds. Friends and siblings are allowed to cross age groupings. Camp times, dates, instructors, mediums and age groupings may vary. Places and times are on page 3-6, Instructors, pages 7-9. Themes and ideas emerge from the children which are then shaped into a story line and dance narrative to create a show on the final day, complete with props and sets made by the children and complimented by costumes supplied by D'Hercy Dance Co and co-created with dancers. The show is in the last hour on the last day.

DANCE:

The 4 - 6 year olds will do a Ballet/Jazz/Creative movement class, fundamentally based on Laban Effort-Shape Principles. The 7 - 10 year olds will do a Ballet/Jazz/Hip Hop influenced class and the 11 - 15 year olds will do a Jazz/Hip Hop Plus class that includes rhythmic forms of dance of their choice, as well as the Jazz and Hip Hop. All levels will do some creation of movement.

DRAMA:

The children will create their own play based on what develops out of improvisational games and exercises designed to support individual expression and group cooperation. The children's interests are what drives the forms and approaches used by the instructors. Children are thoroughly coached on line delivery and the relationship of performer to audience while being supported in performance by thematic choices that are relevant to their interests.

VISUAL ART:

The children will be schooled in colour theory, texture and prop designing. Their creations can range from masks, props, and musical instruments to possibly costumes and back drops. They will also be encouraged to be involved in as much of the design and the staging of the play as possible. Some camps are creating a video component of the visual art.

All of these forms are integrated into the final presentation in the last hour of the last day. Children are encouraged to participate in all levels of the show production.

5-7 years and 8 - 12 years.
OVERALL PROGRAM
Children are schooled in dance and visual arts in two groups rotated between two teachers, three hours/day for five days. A play is also created. The classes are 50 minutes with 10 minute breaks. Bring a snack and water bottle for your child. DANCE Children learn different forms of dance from a base of laban effort shape work. The 5 -7¹s study jazz, ballet, and hip hop. The older kids study jazz, hip hop, and modern. Children focus on their interest. Students are schooled in dance creation as well. VISUAL ARTS The children will be schooled in colour theory and texture in drawing, collage and painting. There will be some prop designing. Children's creations can range from masks, props, musical instruments to possibly costumes and backdrops. Children will be encouraged to be involved in as much of the design and the staging of the play-dance -extravaganza as possible. DRAMA Children create and act out a story that combines their dances and visual arts creations. There is a show on the last day combining all of the above. The emphasis is on Visual Arts and Dance in this camp.
