News: Fire on Commercial Drive Sends One Person To Hospital

EAST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A building fire has shut down several blocks of the Drive this evening. Vancouver fire crews were called to a 2nd alarm blaze in a suite above the Kokopelli hair salon. Battalion Fire Chief Fred Crouch says it was fully involved when they arrived.

"The top floor has one single suite, it had three residents living in there, all three got out safely. One of the victims has gone to hospital for a check-up for smoke inhalation, but at this time he appears to be fine actually."

Crouch says the suite was gutted and the hair salon suffered smoke and water damage. Crews expect to be there for some time tonight mopping-up. There's been no word on a possible cause.
