Rio Offers Rent Free Deal

Attention Local Performance Artists and Promoters:

We have an abundance of talent in this city but many local artists find it difficult to afford the cost of renting a venue which limits the number and size of shows they can do.  The Rio Theatre is offering a RENT FREE DEAL to local promoters, performers, film makers, public speakers and or anyone else who can put on a great show and draw a crowd min 100 - max 440. We are accepting proposals for a variety of live shows, dance, music, comedy, films screenings etc. If you have a good idea and the crowd to back it up - we'll give you the stage to perform! The Box office sales are split for the artist 75/25 for the venue after the 100 - 150 min tickets sold (ticket min depends on ticket price and day of event). For a higher ticket price we'd have a higher split for the artist 90/10 for the venue. We split the cost of promotion with you but all the venue costs are on the house! The Rio will choose which proposals we like best. We can discuss which dates work best once your proposal has been chosen. This opportunity provides you with a risk free event less the cost of 50% of the promotion and your time with a great up side if you sell out. We Look forward to working with you!

This deal is not available to Professional Promoters who want to run their own box office or require specific dates for these types of shows please contact Corinne@riotheatre.ca for our rental rates. A promoter who can draw a good crowd and charge a higher ticket price might be better off renting the venue. The idea of this offer is to create opportunities for local artists who have big talent but a limited budget.

For those of you who don't already know:
The Rio stage size is 40 feet wide and 20 feet deep with a newly renovated greenroom (private bathroom, built in heaters and internet) for performers.  The theatre has 442 seats, including a balcony section. There are few – if any – venues in the city with the intimacy and acoustics like the Rio. Concerts here are unforgettable. Our recently installed HD digital projector is the same quality that all the major multiplexes use. We also have 35mm projector,  two microphones plus an upright piano and tables for merch. Plus we also have NEWLY INSTALLED stage LIGHTING! 26 LED par cans; 6 lekos spotlights (fixed position); 1 follow spot.
Our concession also has a bar available for live events.
