New Business: Morning Glory Teahouse

I came across this little review on Madame Venus Live Journal and thought readers might find it useful.
This is an invite to all of you to come and enjoy the fabulous new Morning Glory Teahouse on Commercial Drive. Those of you who have already been know about their high-quality loose teas - black, white, green, herbal and more - delicious food cooked by owner/chef Andrew Bruce and utterly scrumptious desserts by owner/baker Rebecca Bell. The music is always great: there's nowhere else on the Drive that I can think of that you might hear Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, Bjork, Johnny Cash and Radiohead in one sitting.

When asked about his current fave on the menu, Andrew says, "it's gotta be the Fresh Nettle Salad. It'll be on the menu for a couple of weeks while nettles are in season. It's made with gourmet white truffle oil and the nettles are just beautiful; I had no idea that I could get nettles that are this nice and fresh, so I'm pretty happy about that." My personal sweet favourite is the intensely-rich brownies that Rebecca makes - dude, they are Earl-Grey-flavoured! Mmmmmm.

They're moving toward an ever more environmentally-friendly operation; they are soon switching to a largely organic menu with wild produce in season and when their current supply of takeout cups is finished, they are making the change to totally biodegradable cups. They also have wheat-free and vegan options in all courses.

The atmosphere is sweet and bright with a cozy nook for those who like a cozy nook, and the whole place is loaded with comfy, cushy pillows. Free wi-fi too (wireless internet for your laptop).
They are currently in a critical period and the business that walks through the door this week is essential to their survival; if you like the place or have been meaning to visit, please do come this week to help welcome them to the Drive.

Check them out at:
