News: Car Lands in Victoria Drive Shop

This afternoon at approximately 12:30pm there was a 3 car accident at the intersection of Grant St. and Victoria Drive, resulting in one vehicle coming to rest in the wall of the South Seas Trading Company.
Two people were treated for injuries and at least one woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.
While the official cause of the accident is still unknown, witnesses believe it was a “chain reaction” rear-ender and may have been speed-related.
South China Seas owner Don Dickson is said to upset about the timing of this since his Granville Island location is essentially being shut down for the Olympics.
Neighbors said they have complained to the city several times about the need for more control over traffic in that particular stretch of Victoria Drive from Venables right up to 12th Ave., but their concerns have fallen on deaf ears.

I used to live right off Victoria dr. at Napier and I remember cars racing down Napier to Salsbury to avoid the light at Venables-Cultch. Our neighbourhood is right in the middle of a huge problem traffic diversions-some car commutors trying to get a fast way to the hwy-1st, 12th, Hastings and Powell-its no wonder that Venables being one of the arteries from downtown-gets congested as drivers have to turn right or left to get onto another main artery to go east.
