Theatre Company Looks for a Refill One Drop at a Time

Theatre In the Raw's Artistic Director Jay Hamburger bares all for the arts.
East Vancouver's Theatre In the Raw has seen its share of ups and downs. “But this is one of our more challenging years,” observes artistic director Jay Hamburger. “The arts cuts have been devastating but out of hardship comes innovation.”
So Theatre In the Raw’s website became host to a new virtual café. For each donation of $25 and over, donors receive a coffee cup icon with a live web link. It helps network businesses, builds community and gives people a way to be involved in the arts, without breaking the bank.
Launched on Facebook - the campaign is picking up steam. “We are hoping to find 100 people to sponsor links. We’ve had over a dozen donations just in the first few days”, explains Hamburger. “It’s very encouraging.
If the campaign reaches its goal, Hamburger will direct an original musical called Yippies In Love, by journalist Bob Sarti, and BC Entertainment Hall of famer, Bill Sample. The show is slated to hit the stage this fall.
Until then the group plans to top up their meagre coffers, perking along, one drop at a time.
