Special Event: Summer Dreams Fest "A Child's Vision" Exhibit @ Cafe Deux Soleils

Children in three age groups (8 -11, 12- 15, 16-18) were asked to tell the organizers of the Summer Dreams Literary Arts festival in poetry or a drawing what their "summer dreams" were. 


"The entries should reflect the artist’s or poet’s interpretation of summer," festival Executive Producer, Bonnie Nish, said. 

The selected artwork and poems will be displayed for a month at Cafe Deux Soleils.  Winners of the poetry and artwork will be present a reception on Sunday August 7th. at 7pm to receive their rewards, talk about their work and give readings. All winners receive a small prize in addition to being a part of the show.

Lesbian Landmarks highlights lesbian and womyn's events, organizations, arts, activism, businesses, celebrations, recreational activities & sports, gathering places, social, legal & political issues of the day, housing, and more along Commercial Drive and in the surrounding neighbourhood. Desert Hearts Western Canadian Premiere at the Van East, International Lesbian Week marches, the incident at Joe’s Cafe, dances at The Odd Fellows Hall, Gay Olympic Women’s Soccer and Josephine’s Full Moon concert are just a few of the dozens of stories told and sites visited.

Jolene Cumming is a local historical interpreter who specializes in the history of early Vancouver women and Stanley Park historical walking tours.

Pat Hogan is a local event organizer and business owner, specializing in producing and fundraising for lesbian/womyn's events, concerts and dance events.

Meeting Location: North-east corner of Victoria Park (Kitchener St & Victoria Dr)

This tour is part of: The Vancouver Queer Film Festival presents Celebrate Queer Vancouver 125. Running July 21 to August 21, this month-long multifaceted Celebration showcases film, visual art, community dialogue and – at the centre of it all – a public art installation to engage and celebrate the dynamic experiences and achievements of Vancouver’s queer communities.
