News: Police To Have More Foot Patrols For World Cup

he Vancouver Police Department plans on adding more foot patrols in the Commercial Drive area in anticipation of large gatherings beginning Friday for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Soccer games begin as early as 4:30 a.m. and most cafes and restaurants are expected to be open as fans gather to cheer for their favourite team.

Cafe attracts 300 soccer fans, crammed in 'like sardines' to see Spain defeat Germany

VANCOUVER I Alberto Carranza just couldn't watch the Euro 2008 final in Anchorage, Alaska.

"I had to share this moment with my baby brother Daniel," the Spaniard said.

So he cut his fishing vacation short and began a long, sleepless journey back to the Lower Mainland.

And after a 15-hour drive, a plane trip from Whitehorse to Vancouver and a car ride straight from the airport to Café Roma on Commercial Drive, Spain's 1-0 victory over Germany tasted even better than the beer.

Sports: Euro Cup Soccer at the Rio

Join the party at the Rio Theatre for the Euro soccer final game Spain vs Germany on the Big screen this Sunday June 29th! Pre-game highlights start at 11am the Game begins at 11:45....and that's right we'll be serving beer! Right near the commercial drive skytrain, the best place on the drive to see the game....hope to c u there!
tickets are only $5 (partial proceeds will be donated to foster care charity) come early cuz the good seats go fast!
